The Corriente Corresponder
Does Good!
NACA participated in the 2005 Livestock Publications Council Critique Contest
this year and what do you know?
We won First Place in the Best Cover (for publications under 5,000
circulation)! It was our Spring 2004 issue with the Robert Dawson
photograph of Craig Nichols roping.
Gelbvieh World magazine came in
second in this division.
The judges said of NACA entry:
"The cover of a publication is the first impression of what's to come.
It entices the reader to spare a little of his time to actually sit
down and read. This is a great action shot that really portays the life
of working on a ranch. There is strong motion that pulls you into the
image. The integration of the "Postage Paid Stamp" is well done and
does not distract from the overall quality of the cover. The logo and
the subtext do compete with the image slightly, but overall this is an
excellent cover."

We also won 2nd Place for the Jim Spawn photo used in the "What About Tomorrow?"
ad with the two boys roping. The category was Best Livestock Ad Photograph.
Founded in 1974, the Livestock Publications Council was designed to
serve the livestock publishing industry. Its goal is to provide a forum
through which members can obtain information on how to improve their
overall effectiveness and value to both readers and advertisers. LPC
functions as an information exchange by allowing publication personnel
and other other members to discuss common problems with peers and
arrive at workable solutions that benefit both. More than 115 livestock
publications hold membership in the council, in addition to more than
75 service companies who hold Service Memberships.
